I follow NCIKU, which is fun for the Chinese word of the day, but sometimes it links to things on the fora, which are also interesting in their own right. Here's one that I felt like sharing, in spirit of the holiday.

龙抬头节/圣帕特里克节

Happy Days!!
Today is Longtaitou sometimes called 二月二(the lunar calendar date)， and of course for those more of the Western tradition it's also 生帕特里克节 (St. Patrick's Day!).

For those that dont' know, 龙抬头 is a very traditional Chinese holiday. The 龙(dragon) was regarded as the king of the insects and also bringer of the rain. Around this time is when insects begin to emerge from their winter hibernations and the spring rains start to fall. Thus the Dragon is raising his head. Even today, the tradition persists to get your haircut on this day to bring good luck for the coming year.

This luck happens to be a great segue into St. Patrick's Day and the luck of the Irish.
St. Patrick is the most widely known patron saint of Ireland. Largely, credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland his day started as a festival that has turned into a secular holiday. People usually wear green clothing and drink alcohol and have good time.

So today must be a particularly lucky day with the Luck of the Irish in the air and the Dragon Raising his head. So I'm gonna put on my green shirt and go get a haircut and hope for some luck in the coming year.

There is only about one more month of classes what what what. I'm getting tired - I just want this semester to be over.

wahahaha took my last ged test last night /o/ so all i gotta do now is wait for my scores (since my thing doesn't work on the site for some reason..)

the math bit was a lot easier than i anticipated hahahahaha. I got all nervous for nothing

i have like 0 faith in myself when it comes to math but it turned out to be pretty easy.. though i did get COMPLETELY LOST on some of the problems hahaha it was only like one or two. I think I'm clear

so yeah, awesome.
